Dr. Zaheer I. Kazi, President of the Anjuman-e-Islam in his speech as Chief Guest said the sacrifice of Imam Hussain (a.s.) grandson of Prophet Mohammad (SAW) is so important for the world that it has captured the hearts of the entire humanity irrespective of their religions. Uprising of Imam Hussain (a.s.) has given the immortal message of justice to humanity against the wrongdoings of Yazid.

His Excellency Mr. Ali Moahmmadi, Consul General of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Mumbai said that it gives us pride in remembering the suffering of Imam Hussain (a.s.) in Karbala. Not only Muslims but the non-Muslims also pay homage to Imam Hussain (a.s.) but recently due to the incitement of western countries especially USA, some people with vested interests in Iran attacked the innocent mourners on the day of Ashura when they were busy lamenting and remembering the pain of Imam Hussain (a.s.), his holy family and the faithful companions which anguished the entire country.

Prof. Shafi Shaikh, former Head of the Arabic Department, University of Mumbai also read out a scholarly article in Arabic with its translation.

Mr. M. R. Mirzaei, Director, Culture House of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Mumbai said that in association with the Sahyog Cultural Society it is organizing the Husain (a.s.) Day since last eleven years to promote the unity among the Muslim Ummah and paid rich tributes to the martyrs of Karbala. He said that normally the meetings are aimed at the particular section of the society, but, intention of holding this programme is interfaith dialogue which enables the people from all walks of life to attend it.
