Interactive meeting with ADGFT On the initiative of the General Administration Department, Government of Maharashtra an interactive meeting was organized on the premises of the Additional Director General of Foreign Trade of India on Tuesday, 22nd May 2012 in Mumbai. The meeting was attended by Mr. Mohammad Bagher Beigi, Acting Consul General and Mrs. Parvin Daneshvar, First Consul of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Mumbai, Dr. Kavita Gupta, Additional Director General of Foreign Trade, Government of India, Ministry of Commerce & Industry, Department of Commerce, Mr. Sumit Mullick, Principal Secretary and Chief Protocol Officer, Government of Maharashtra and representatives of various trade promotion organizations, such as EEPC, FIEO and UCO Bank, etc. Trade organizations’ representatives pointed out the problems faced by Indian exporters and sought guidance and remedial actions. On the other hand Mr. Mohamamd Bagher Beigi put forward the issues to the ADGFT which are hindering the trade between India and Iran, such as opening the Iranian bank’s branch in India, cumbersome and lengthy process of granting the visas to the Iranian businessmen, etc. Both sides took note of the issues and it was decided to smoothen the procedures both in India and Iran for a speedier development of business between the two countries. |
