COMMEMORATION OF THE INTERNATIONAL DAY OF QODS IN MUMBAI


On Friday, 3rd September 2010 being the last Friday of the Holy Month of Ramazan was observed at the International Qods Day. To commemorate this event an Iftaar-Dinner function was held in the Consulate General of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Mumbai which was attended by the prominent Muslim personalities from the various sects. Following speakers shared their viewpoints with the oudience on the occasion:

The speakers remembered the sufferings of the Palestinian brothers and sisters and informed the invitees that it was Imam Khomeini (RA), Founder of the Islamic Republic of Iran who ordained that the Last Friday of the Holy Month of Ramazan should be observed as the International Qods Day to highlight the sufferings and plight of the Palestinian people at the hands of the zionist regime.

Following is the Text of the Speech of H.E. Mr. Ali Mohammadi, Consul General

 IN THE NAME OF ALLAH, THE BENEFICENT, THE MERCIFUL

Dear Brothers,

I warmly welcome you all and pray to Allah, the Almighty for acceptance of our fasting and prayers in this Holy month of Ramazan. May Allah reward all of us with his choicest bounties.

International Qods Day is one of the most prominent legacies of Late Imam Khomeini (S). By the grace and guidance of Allah very soon the great and the awaken Moslems of the world will rise on this day under the united flag in support of oppressed people of the Palestine. We commemorate this day to keep alive the Palestinian cause in the world’s scenario.

Since the Zionist regime occupied the territory of Palestine, they did every possible criminal act to the humanity. The extent of their criminal acts is not limited to the Palestinians only. This regime is against all free-minded human beings who support the oppressed people, irrespective of their race, religion, beliefs and citizenship.

Recent aggressive attack on the convoy of ships carrying aid to the Gaza Strips and killing innocent volunteers in international waters is a recent example of Zionist regime’s behavior. This criminal act of usurper Israel was against all international conventions, violation of human rights and humanitarian laws.

Palestine land belongs to Palestinians and its fate should be determined by the Palestinian people.

Freedom of Holy Qods and occupied territories will be achieved only through the unity and national solidarity among the Palestinians. Repeated failure of American plans to solve protracted issue of the Palestine is indicative that even new policies of the US - formal direct negotiation between the Palestinian authorities and the Zionist regime are bound to fail, because in this plan the root cause of the crisis and legitimate rights of Palestinians are ignored.

This act of the superpowers claiming to support the democracies clearly shows how serious they are in solving the Palestine problem.

The Islamic Republic of Iran has suggested a logical and fair solution to the issue of Palestine. We have suggested that all native Palestinians including those who were driven away from their motherland; whether they are Moslems, Christians or Jews, should be allowed to take part in general referendum under supervision of the world bodies. The result of this referendum should be the base for forming the legitimate government.

International Qods Day is symbol of unity among Moslems of the world. We hope to commemorate this day next year with a greater support and involvement of our Moslem brothers in a peaceful manner, giving hope to the victory of Palestine in the Middle East region.

Once again I raise my hands in prayer to Allah, the Almighty and seek the unity, peace and prosperity for all Moslems of the world.
